River Of Life Community Church was officially registered on 19th November 2002. The work in Sengkang, Punggol and Hougang was initiated after the Council at Bethesda Frankel Estate Church had expressed interest in starting a ministry at Sengkang. We want to thank BFEC for graciously commending us as an autonomous church, for their prayers and the partial financial support given to us to help us through these two years in our ministry in Sengkang, Punggol and Hougang.
With God’s help, John Lee formed two cell groups at Hougang and Sengkang in 2001. By July 2002, we had about 35 adults and children in our cells and our first monthly worship was held on 29th July 2002. By September 2002, the fortnightly Worship Services at John Lee’s apartment were packed to capacity and the Sunday school classes were held at the void decks. In October 2002, the Lord led us to rent a terrace house at 425 Punggol Road with the consent from the owner of the house to hold our weekly worship and Sunday school classes.
Since our relocation to the terrace house at Ponggol Road , our attendance has risen from 40 to 97 today. Initially, we have 16 children and now the Lord has blessed us with 35 children for Kidz church. Today, we have 61 baptized members of which 30 are transferred members from BFEC. We are grateful to the Lord for bringing in more workers to help us in 2003.
In Jun 2004, God led us to relocate to 17 Ponggol Twenty-Fourth Avenue while we seek to secure a more permanent place of worship. It has always been our desire and vision to plant a witness in Hougang, Sengkang and Ponggol unless the Lord shows us otherwise. Do continue to uphold us in prayer as we seek to bring in a greater harvest through ROLC with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
