8 January 2012 – The Disciple’s Prayer (Our Father/Hallowed Be Thy Name)

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name” (Matthew 6:9)
In this model prayer, we see relationships: that of Father/children, God/worshippers, King/subjects, Master/servants, Giver/receivers, Saviour/sinners, Shepherd/sheep and Protector/protected. Before we can enjoy the blessings that come with relationship, we need to be truly “born again” into God’s Kingdom. Christians, have we fathomed what it means to have the Almighty God as our Father? Ignorance results in unnecessary worries, stresses, sicknesses, troubles, temptations that take a toll of our lives and effectiveness. When we don’t fully comprehend Who our Father is and What our Father has prepared for us, we look to idols/rival lovers to meet our needs. Imagine, if Bill Gates were your father, would you be begging for your basic needs? Wouldn’t it be an insult to your billionaire dad? Meditate, pray this prayer & ponder upon the reality that God “who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also along with him, graciously give us all things” (Romans 8:32). We are not orphans, but we are sons/daughters of the living and loving God. Our Daddy God reigns, rules in Heaven over all our affairs. The question is: “Is GOD your dad?”
