4 July 2010 – Open Sunday (Youth Day)
Today is Youth Day!
Hear what God has to say to youths: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity” (1Timothy 4:12). Paul specifically tells young Timothy to be an example in 2 areas: speech and conduct. For this to be possible, we need these three qualities: love, faith and purity. Timothy was exhorted to zealously watch his life and doctrine closely so that both Timothy and the hearers will be saved from the moral decay and godlessness in society. Youths today face the same challenges but of a different degree: that of the internet, television, social indulgences, immorality & permissive sex and others. This world is getting more dangerous, defiling and demonic. Unless we take heed to Paul’s advice, there is little hope for the next generation. It is extremely important to be Godly now for us to bless the generations after us!
