Picture #3 – The Workmanship
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do so.” (Eph 2:10).
In Genesis 1, God created this world out of nothing but by the power of His word. In the space of six days, He brought all things into existence. In the text above, Paul is speaking of another more important creation – the Church which was born in Acts 2. Since then, God has been working on His Church which is created to do good works. The Church is His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. His purpose is to present His Church as ‘the finest piece of art’. This ‘piece of art’ is still in progress. It is not yet completed but it will one day. Today, the Church may look ‘messy’ but one day all will marvel at God’s workmanship, the Church. On that day, the Church will be presented to Christ as His radiant Bride in all her beauty and glory, without spot and wrinkle. What a glorious day that will be!
