11 July 2010 – Seven pictures of the Church as seen in Ephesians
Picture #1 – The Assembly
The Church of Christ, often called the Bride of Christ, is the object of God’s sacrificial love and affection for Jesus had purchased her with His own blood. Our Lord is the Head of this largest organisation in the world. He boldly declares “on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it” (Matthew 16:18). How assuring it is for us to know we are safe and secure in the Hands of the Almighty God. We are not the Church helpless and hopeless in the world but we are victorious. We are not on the defence but we are on the offense against the forces of the Enemy whose intention is to destroy the Church. When the Church knows her identity and legal right in Christ, she triumphs. As we look at the seven pictures of the Church in Ephesians, we allow the Holy Spirit to open “the eyes of our hearts to see the hope we have, the riches of our inheritance and the power of His might at work in us” (read Eph 1:17-20; 3:17-20).
